This is more than just a tribute band, it's a celebration of one of the music industry's most respected songwriters.

With this in mind we are not a 'look-a-like' band trying to be a visual copy of Dire Straits for example, but instead we celebrate some of the great music that Mark Knopfler has been associated with over the past 30 years or more.

When Mark Knopfler is performing with Steve Phillips such as in The Notting Hillbillies for example, they go back to their roots and play songs from Muddy Waters to Elvis Presley. We are very honoured that Mr Steve Phillips who has a long history of work with Mark Knopfler has agreed to appear with us as our very special guest in The Sultans Of Swing.

In 'The Sultans Of Swing' the lead role is taken by Vidar Ruud for most of the Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler works. Steve Phillips handles all of the material from The Notting Hillbillies songbook or perhaps Dire Straits songs that he has a personal connection with.

The Sultans Of Swing also perform concerts without Steve Phillips due to both the economics and availabilty of Steve.
